After defeating North Merchiston 3 in Week 24, Week 25 saw the Edinburgh side unable to pick up any further points (two losses) which meant that Team 2 would finish in 8th place in the Division. A first time that either of the McDonell’s had visited the venue and they nearly never made it, the Vue cinema looking a better prospect for a night out! Unfortunately, James spotted them on the way in and grabbed them before they could buy their tickets!! Greig was absolutely left wishing he’d gone to watch the Super Mario movie as he was getting put away with ease by young Cayden Fleury!  When Jonas Falter defeated James in three sets he wished he’d not been so hasty in forbidding the cinema visit! The match of the night was probably game 3 – a terrific all out attacking match between John Yau and Hannah. Some terrific play from Hannah as she won in three sets. As Greig’s struggles continued in his second match he was told by daughter Hannah at 2-0 down to John, that she thought he had been playing too much Pickleball and if he could remember the ball needed to hit the table he might improve! James found it funny. Somehow, Greig recovered for a win and won his final match against Jonas. A 7-3 win for the Murrayfield outfit in a match which meant little to either side.",[],{"_key":34,"_type":11,"children":35,"markDefs":39,"style":18},"block-3",[36],{"_key":37,"_type":15,"text":38},"span-3","On the same night Penicuik 4 made a trip to Napier Uni to take on Corstorphine in their final match of their division 3 campaign. Already secure in second place, Chamika Diyunugalge, Jay Jayalath and Patrick Shanks were involved in an almighty struggle – 8 of the 10 matches played on the night went all the way to a deciding fifth end. Only two of them were won by the visitors – Chamika and Jay won a match each in 3 and 4 ends respectively, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Penicuik side fell to a 6-4 defeat. Not a great end to the season but a terrific campaign nonetheless for Team 4 who will be trying their luck in Division 2 next season – well done to them.",[],{"_key":41,"_type":11,"children":42,"markDefs":46,"style":18},"block-4",[43],{"_key":44,"_type":15,"text":45},"span-4","Player of the Week",[],{"_key":48,"_type":11,"children":49,"markDefs":53,"style":18},"block-5",[50],{"_key":51,"_type":15,"text":52},"span-5","With only six players in action and none of them having an undefeated night no award to one of us this week. A shout out though to another up and coming Murrayfield youngster in Cayden Fleury – if we gave player of the week awards to opponents he’d win it this week. But John was looking forward to our report so just for you…… In the doubles between Jonas and Cayden and Greig and Hannah, Jonas tried to influence his own teammate umpire by suggesting he dock a point from Greig after he caught a serve from Cayden who asked the umpire just to keep an eye on whether the ball was being thrown up sufficiently! John stood his ground despite repeated badgering from his own teammate and the match went on. In fairness, the incident only worked in Murrayfield’s favour as from about 5-5 in the game they went on to win it 11-6! Well done to Umpire John though – not only a nice guy but a very fair umpire and cracking team captain – he also granted us a postponement from the previous week when we couldn’t field a team.",[],{"_key":69,"_type":11,"children":70,"markDefs":74,"style":18},"block-8",[71],{"_key":72,"_type":15,"text":73},"span-8","Other than that tiny argument the evening went without incident. That said, when it came to the match between Jonas and Greig, everyone was looking around at everyone else to see who was going to umpire – no takers from the visitors and the Murrayfield side didn’t seem keen either – in the end Cayden’s dad stepped up to the plate and had the easiest 15 minutes of the night – not one cross word or dodgy look between the competitors and the umpire had nowt to do other than turn the scores over – which he did perfectly! Now that’s a good way to end the season - a match involving Jonas, James and Greig and they all got on swimmingly.",[],{"_key":76,"_type":11,"children":77,"markDefs":81,"style":18},"block-9",[78],{"_key":79,"_type":15,"text":80},"span-9","",[],{"_key":83,"_type":11,"children":84,"markDefs":88,"style":18},"block-10",[85],{"_key":86,"_type":15,"text":87},"span-10","Well done to everyone for sticking in over the season through numerous highs and lows.
